| Are you certified? |
CPR can make the difference between the life and death of a co-worker or loved one, and it can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim's chance of survival. Many companies are now training their employees to be CPR/AED/First Aid qualified.
Hannon Security offers CPR/AED/First Aid classes to our customers and outside companies. Hannon uses the American Heart Association program which certifies people for two (2) years, upon completion of the class. This course offers a comprehensive study of CPR/AED/First Aid that includes the basic techniques to handle many medical emergencies encountered on the job.
The classes are offered each month at our offices conveniently located in Bloomington, MN, and are taught by Hannon Instructors trained through the American Heart Association. The classes are $75 per person. The class schedule for February is as follows:
Thursday, Feb. 5th - 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Thursday, Feb. 19th - 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Saturday, Feb. 21st - 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Saturday, Feb. 28th - 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

| Super Bowl security plan includes barriers, searches, closed roads. |
Security will be so thorough that Raymond James Stadium will be the safest place in the country on Super Bowl Sunday, an NFL security representative said today. Security will be much tighter than when the Raymond James Stadium hosted its last Super Bowl in 2001. The NFL has 35 investigators who report to the security division based in New York. An NFL Security Division representative outlined a few of the security measures: Fans who attend the February 1 game will go through security similar to that faced by passengers boarding an airliner, as officers use metal detectors and X-ray machines. Purses will be permitted but not backpacks. Dale Mabry Highway around the Tampa stadium will be closed leading up to and during the game. Vehicles will be banned from the stadium and perimeter on game day. Prior to game day, vehicles making deliveries to the stadium will be searched extensively. There will be extensive use of barriers and fences outside the stadium. Security will also be tight in downtown Tampa and hotels housing the players.

What’s being uncovered in background checks today?
|
Background checks can be a hassle for HR, but a recent report shows why they’re still important. Here’s what background checks have uncovered about candidates in the past year, according to a report by ADP Employer Services:
- Out of all background checks performed, 10% revealed some negative factor
- 44% of credit checks found at least one bad mark on a candidate’s credit (many companies perform credit checks for jobs that involve finance)
- More than 33% of applicants had violations on their driving records
- 8% of candidates had a prior workers’ compensation claim, and
- 6% of all applicants had a criminal conviction in the past seven years.
Given how often those record checks turn up negative information (and how quickly many candidates will supply false info on an application), screening applicants in appropriate categories is always a wise investment.
